No, my criticism is against the Globalistic culture, pushed on the American people by the One Worlders, who keep telling us that the advantage of losing all our jobs to overseas countries is that we all get cheap products. Never mind that there are no jobs for the people to be able to afford even the cheapest of Big Box store products, never mind that we all would rather be shopping at Nordstrom's, never mind that the value of the dollar is plummeting like an elevator in the tower of terror, making even the products at the so-called discount stores more and more expensive, they want to push the world view that the only motivation for people to buy should be the cheapest price, and the only motivation for corporations should be selling at the biggest profit margin.
There are many other things that ought to be driving our culture, not the least of which are moral values, pride in workmanship, and compassion for one's fellow man. The corporate culture that is driven only by profit margin leads to a society where people only care about saving a buck, and those are the people you attract to your store. Therefore, while the trampling is not the fault of the individual Walmart, the degradation of the culture, where people only value the bucks they will save, and not the life of the person in their way is in part attributable to the new Big Box world we live in.
Of course, there is also the problem with the schools, were the 10 commandments have been removed from the cirruculum, and single parent families where children are allowed to raise themselves, and grow up into feral adults, so of course I am not blaming Walmart for the character of the people they attract. However, you will never see people trampling each other when there is a sale at Nordstrom, because that is not the kind of customer that shops there.
I used to live in Stevenson Ranch, California, which was out in the sticks at the time, but has grown by leaps and bounds as Americans move out there, fleeing the wave of immigrants, both legal and illegal, that have taken over the Los Angeles basin.
One of the developments that happened while I lived there was the building of a large outdoor mall of big box stores, including a Walmart. One of the characteristics of Walmart, I noticed, is the piggish kind of people it attracts. All of the other big box stores had clean parking lots, including the ToysRUs next door. Bit the Walmart had THE filthiest parking lot I have ever seen anywhere. Even when it was a new store, Walmart shoppers would leave dirty diapers, the contents of their cigarette ash tray, piles of fast food wrappers, spilled drinks, and all manner of gooey mystery items could be seen littring the ground, with no sign of anyone from the Walmart coming out to clean it up.
It your profit margin is so low, you can't even afford to clean the parking lot in front of your store, there is something wrong with the way you are doing business. But Walmart is bent on putting all of their competitors out of business, even if this means being a bad neighbor to the surrounding community, even if this means attracting riff raff from miles and miles away, and even if it means attracting the kind of customer to your store who are willing to break down your doors and trample a young man to death, just to save a few bucks on cheap items that they will consider junk in a few weeks and toss in in the trash.
This race for the bottom is toxic to our culture, and I predict that more of this will go on as companies struggle to stay in business, and are forced to take on Walmart's methods.
